State-of-the art interactive learning.
RC-AUS is an innovative, new PC-based computer program. Designed to teach, young engineers the basics of reinforced concrete design, this system is also extremely useful to more experienced designers looking to refresh their skills. The system is fully compliant with the latest editions of AS 3600 for concrete design and AS 1170 for loading on structures. Developed jointly by the SRIA and by the Cement Concrete & Aggregates Australia, this system won the 1997 Concrete Institute of Australia award for Excellence.
Development.
Development was undertaken by Peter Noble from Phoenix Systems in the UK. The package was written using a program, "Authorware", which allows for the seamless integration of graphics, animation, photographs and interactive pages.
Beta versions of the program received thorough testing and critique from SRIA and CCAA staff to ensure accuracy and compliance with Australian Standards before release. Subsequently, 28 Civil Engineering faculties at Australian universities have used the program extensively.
Program Contents.
RC-AUS is comprehensive. It can take a student from the very basics of reinforced concrete behaviour through to the most complex aspects taught at undergraduate level. The Package is divided into two Parts:
